Peter

Peter and the Wolf

Probably one of my favorite story of all time! I used to to watch the Disney version over and over again.

Action Shot

Here is another piece made for the same movie project. Half way through it, the Producer said he wanted to go with a much darker look (see characters below) so I never finished that piece. Maybe some day!

Costume Designs

Here are a few Costume Designs I did for a feature film a few months ago. Think "Lawrence of Arabia" meets steampunk!

Back to Speed Painting.

Some of us in the concept team started the 30 min speed painting again during lunch. The rules: take a picture on the internet and make a painting of it using one layer and no color picking.

Today was my turn to pick the picture. I choose a tough one.

These waves were brutal!

Here it is, 30 min:

I'm back!

Wow! I think I broke all records of silence here!
Bad me!
Life is super busy, projects keep coming and I still have a lot of fun doing it all!
I have a goal to post regularly again. So let's start.
I worked for a feature film last month doing costume designs and action shots. I'll see if I can post some of it here.

In the mid time, here is a little step by step and a skydome for Bolt I worked on with Dave McClellan.

Stay tune!

Seb

Snow Monster Hunter

Zigfreid,12, is the youngest Snow Monster Hunter alive. He's captured thirty six beasts so far in a short but impressive career that started when he was only 7 years old.
Here is a photo of him taken on December 18th 2008 in Antarctica with his latest catch, a Category Six 2.3 tons Monster.

The missing post...

For those who wonder what happen to the post about my Salt Lake Community students, I unfortunatly had to remove it. The reason is: a few days after I posted it, Lanfeust Mag, a French comic book magazin told me they (finally) published my 4 pages graphic Novel. So I didn't want people to be confused coming here and seing all kinds of different artists, since this blog is the link I put as a reference in the mag... Bad timing!!

But anyway here is the link to this post again!

Shah Project

My good friend Shahbaaz wants to make a short 3D film. He asked me to help create the characters. He wanted to get the flavor of Sean Galloway and have the main character kind of looking like him (meaning Shahbaaz). Here is the result. It's always fun to emulate a new style you're not use to! Sean is the man!

The hero:

And here is what Shahbaaz looks like:

Discovering Vector Tools

My uncle Jean (John) is starting a "repair all" kind of company in the south of France. He wanted a logo of a "happy and honest" worker. I thought it was a good opportunity to try something new to me: vectors! It's not done in Illustrator but using the vector tool in Photoshop. But hey, it's a start! Next time, I try Illustrator.
I also try to put a little bit of my uncle into the design. I think it turned out okay for the short time I spent on it.

BOLT!

Bolt is now playing in theaters everywhere. I worked on the game quite a bit. For this game, I didn't work so much in concept but on the skydomes, these big background paintings that "close" the gameplay area.
Here is one of the few concept pieces I did, for an enemy. At the time, the bad guys of the movie had this modern ninja flavor to them. Later on, the movie team just kept the high tech look and abandonned the ninja theme. We of course had to change our characters accordingly.

I've been pretty impressed with what Disney Feature did on Bolt. It's definetely a step up in quality and storytelling compared to Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons.

Here are early ninja versions of "Disky":
