Kirby

Here are two marketing pieces I made for a children book called "Kirby Puckernut and the Christmas surprise" that came up last month.

A lot of fun to do!

The Cow

Another early character.

From exploration to wrong direction to final design

It made it into the game after some nice touches from the Character Modelers and funny animations from the animators. It's always magical to see one of your characters coming to life on screen!

Variety

That's one of the things I like the most about being a concept artist: variety!
One day, you're going to be working on a soft Caterpillar toy design or a Construction worker action figure. The next day you might work on a Western Cave or a futuristic western Barbershop.
It forces you to attack new design problems everyday. I love that challenge!
And also the free sodas, the silver pass for unlimited access to Disneyland, the sweet deal on every Disney dvds and products and the amazing artists I work with everyday.

Love my job!

TOY STORY III

Starting in January 2008, I had the privilege to work as Concept Lead over Toy Story 3, the video game. This has been a great great experience for me and the chance to learn a lot of new things, from a concept perspective but also on art direction. We created over 3,000 pieces of concept, designing new toys, new environments, objects, vehicles, UI etc... 1,286 of them got approved.
It was a fantastic two and a half years project to be on and working with Pixar (my heroes) was a blast.
Here is the first piece of concept I did for the project and the first time John Lasseter saw my work.

John Lasseter! THE John Lasseter! And he LIKED it!!

One of the best moment of my career.

John Lasseter...

All right, I stop geeking now.

Happy new year friends!
